France – Switzerland

World champions France face Switzerland in Bucurest in a game from the 1/8-finals of the Euro 2020. Are Les Bleus going to have any problems to progress here? Let’s discuss it in this preview of the match.

France started their campaign in the group stage with a win against Germany, but after this the world champion didn’t impress in the way we expected. Didier Deschamps’ team made two consecutive draws against Hungary and Portugal, although these points were enough for them to win the first place in the group.

Ousmane Dembele returned home with an injury, so he won’t be available during the knockout phase. We don’t expect to see Dechamps making any big changes. Griezmann, Benzema and Mbappe should continue in attack while Kante and Pogba are one hundred percent starters in midfield. Now Deschamps must choose between Adrien Rabiot and Corentin Tolisso for the third man in the middle of the pitch. Both of them had starts in the group stage.

Switzerland won just one point from their first two matches in the group stage, but the Crusaders qualified for the 1/8-finals after a crucial 3-1 win against Turkey. The two heroes of the game were Xherdan Shaqiri and Steven Zuber. Shaqiri scored two of the goals while Zuber assisted for all of the three goals against the Crescent Stars. Haris Seferovic scored his first goal at the Euro 2020 as well.

Switzerland’s performances during the European Championship were far from impressive, except for their third game. Vladimir Petkovic’s team will need to raise its game if they want to have any chances against France.

That’s the preview for the Euro 2020 1/8-finals game between France and Switzerland in Bucurest on Monday. Most of the pundits believe that Les Bleus can’t have any problems to progress to the 1/4-finals here. Let’s see, though.
