Inter Milan faces Getafe

Inter Milan faces Getafe at the San Siro in a first leg from the 1/8-finals of Europa League. This game is going to be played in front of empty stands because of the coronavirus. Let’s preview it in the next few minutes.

Inter Milan had an easy work in the previous round when they met Bulgarian champions Ludogorets. The Nerazzurri did their job in the first leg in Razgrad when they won with 2-0, which was followed by another 2-1 win in Milan.

We guess that Inter won’t be in their best mood when they face Getafe on Thursday. During the weekend Antonio Conte’s team lost the Derby D’Italia against Juventus which left them 9 points behind the leader. More or less we can say that Inter’s hopes of winning the Serie A are gone now.

Because of this we won’t be surprised to see them making a strong effort in Europa League. This is a competition they can win, there’s no doubt about that.

Getafe qualified for the 1/8-finals after eliminating Dutch giants Ajax from the tournament, which was surprising for many people. The Spanish side won the first game at home with 2-0 and they lost the second leg with 1-2, but this was enough for them to progress. Jose Bordalas is doing a great job since he’s coaching Getafe and the team’s performance in Europa League is another proof for this.

Bordalas has some squad problems before this match, though. Antunes and Filip Manojlovic are injured and they won’t be avaliable for this visit to the San Siro.

We consider Inter Milan favourites against Getafe, but we don’t think it’s going to be an easy ride for them. No – not at all. The Spaniards are pretty tough team right now and Antonio Conte must make a great plan to beat them on Thursday.
