Juventus – Real Madrid
Juventus welcomes Real Madrid at the Allianz Stadium in one of the big derbies of the night in the Champions League. For Juve this is a chance to win the group, while for Atletico this is a chance to catch up with the leader.
At this moment the Bianconeri are leading the group with 10 points, being 3 points ahead of Atletico Madrid. The only game in the group which Juventus didn’t win was the one against Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano. Maybe you remember that this match ended with a 1-1 draw. After this the Old Lady is just flawless – three consecutive wins in three games played.
In the previous round of the group stage Juventus had a long trip to Moscow to face Lokomotiv. Everything ended well because the Bianconeri celebrated a 2-1 win. The game was about to end with a draw, but Douglas Costa scored a very late winner for the Italians in the 93th minute. Before him it was Aaron Ramsey who opened the score for Juventus.
Right now Juventus are enjoying a run of five consecutive wins in all competitions. On Saturday Maurizio Sarri’s team had a difficult visit to Atalanta which they won with 3-1. Gonzalo Higuain scored a brace, while Paulo Dybala added one more.
Atletico Madrid were moving alongside Juventus in the group, but in the previous round Los Colchoneros suffered a 1-2 loss during their visit to Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Alvaro Morata scored Atletico’s only goal in the game, but it happened too late – in the 94th minute. It was a bad day for Thomas Partey who scored himself an own goal.
Juventus have a brilliant chance to win this group on Tuesday. The last time they hosted Atletico Madrid in the Champions League they scored a 3-0 win, while Cristiano Ronaldo made am impressive hattrick. Can the Spaniards do better this time?
