Real Madrid – Shakhtar Donetsk
Real Madrid hosts Shakhtar Donetsk at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano in a match from Group B of the Champions League.
Real Madrid are the biggest favourites for the first place in this group despite the presence of solid teams such as Inter Milan and Borussia M’gladbach. Los Blancos have won this competition 13 times in their history and this is something which should tell you enough.
For Zinedine Zidane’s team this game is a chance to say “sorry” to the fans after the dissapointing 0-1 defeat to Cadiz in La Liga on Saturday. The Spanish champions did not look like themselves and it was shocking to see them losing like this.
Most likely Zidane will be making some changes to the line-up compared to the Cadiz game. Rotations are a must when you have two games a week. We expect to see players like Isco and Lucas Vasquez to sit on the bench while Federico Valverde, Marco Asensio, Casemiro, Mendy and Rodrygo are all in contention to start. Meanwhile Eden Hazard continues to be troubled by injuries and it’s not sure how Madrid are going to act with him.
Shakhtar Donetsk will be traveling to Madrid after a stunning 5-1 win over Lviv in the Ukrainian Premier League. Luis Castro’s team continues to dominate Ukrainian football and to be the best team in the country. Viktor Kovalenko scored a brace for Shakhtar while Marcos Antonio, Dentinho and Solomon scored for the hosts as well.
That’s our preview for the Champions League game between Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stage of the commpetition. Los Blancos are always favourites at home, but their game against Cadiz on Saturday should be a red lamp for Zinedine Zidane and the players. This result proves Shakhtar have a chance for something good if they play their cards right.
